The Shadow Odyssey - Avatar of Disease Dead

It was a pretty busy night tonight that ended very quickly!

The night started out to clear VP so we could get Bonoman his Ranger Mythical (he betrayed from Assasin), Then we hit Trakanon for probably the last time. Then we headed off to kill The Tangrin and finally off to kill the just Avatar of Disease!

This guy was a a real chump! Other than hitting a little bit harder, (70% of his hits were critical hits!) he was not much different from his previous version. We know a patch is going in tomorrow to "fix" the Avatars so our current spree of killing them will be coming to an end, temporarily, but I am happy that what ever this bug was that temporarilly "nerfed" some of the avatars. We got some decent gear that allows us to progress even faster!

We took him down on our second attempt. Grats Deblin on your evil Avatar Two set bonus and Kaladz on your new wrist piece. I will put up the pictures tomorrow, when I log back in to EQ2.*

*edit, loot pictures posted.

The Shadow Odyssey - Avatar of Mischief Dead!

Avatar of Mischief was not much harder than his previous tiers counterpart. Grats Bonoman and Satarah! I want that belt!

The Shadow Odyssey - Avatar of War Dead!

Server first kill of Avatar of War! Grats Ultimmaa and Deblin on your server discoveries!

That is one bad ass helmet, it's going to be huge helping us progress through the content we have yet to beat! Charms that are set pieces, is pretty damn cool. So far I think we are the world wide #5 or #6 to defeat Avatar of War.

29 Achievement points in 1.5 hours!

So, tonight after our regularly scheduled raids, two groups of DA folks mentored down to level 5o and cleared a T5 and T6 zone. We started with Spirits of the Lost, then we ventured down to The Fountain of Life to kill The God King and his cronies.

It was a blast, I have not done the old raid content since the respective tiers and I am a big fan of the old raid content. I was in a "casual raiding guild" during DoF so I only killed God King once during that time due to the pre-requisites of opening the Fountain of life.

The 1o players who mentored down, got a grand total of 29 Achievement points! Personally I got 3 points, it doesn't seem like a lot, but most mobs were giving 5% a kill while the "bosses" were giving 25%+.

We're going to do more tomorrow and try to hit up some old contested mobs if they are up.

* I did a couple spelling and grammar edits to this post, I wrote the original post at 3 am, so I was not exactly with it.

Shame on you SOE! RMT in EQ2.

I am a firm beliver that RMT does not belong in a fantasy game like EverQuest 2.
Some of you may know, I am very much against bots and plat farmers, I've hunted them down, joined bot guilds collected evidence to have them banned.

Many of us were shocked today to see RMT brought in to EQ2 this morning. We were promised that RMT would never be brought to non-exchange servers. Well, SOE put in a Station wallet in today that will allow players to buy in-game items on all servers, exchange and regular live servers.

So far it looks to amount to AA/XP potions, Fluff pets and aperance slot items, but where does it stop?

How hard would it be for them to put "specials" up where they sell gear, levels, plat? They have already put up AP/XP Potions potions for sale!

I've been a regular lurker on this site for a while but I wanted to step in here and dispel something that's just plain not true - I don't have my name highlighted here, but anyone that doubts it's me can email me at jsmedley@soe.sony.com and I'll happily reply.

We aren't going to be allowing RMT in any way, shape or form on the non-exchange enabled EQ II servers. Period. End of statement.

In any event, I wanted to stop in and at least set the record straight - you aren't going to be seeing RMT allowed on the non-exchange enabled servers.

John Smedley
President, Sony Online Entertainmet"

Here is my E-mail:

Shame on you John and SOE for breaking your promise, you are nothing more than lying fucking whores.

These boots were made for healin'

Server Disco!
My new boots! Well, not quite yet, I won the pattern in Yakesha's Inner Stronghold last night off Kultak the Cruel. I have yet to turn them in because I don't have any Void shards.

Heritage Quest Fun!

Yesterday, after Thanksgiving dinner I sat down to play EQ2 with no real agenda, after the horror of a Butcherblock pick up group the night before, decided to wait until we had some guildies on to do a group.

That pick up group I was on the other day was the worst pick up group I have ever been on. There were constant AFKs, no pull warnings, long waits between pulls "KoS "dps from scouts, a shit talking summoner who's dps was barely breaking 1.3k at best and a guardian who couldn't hold agro - A twenty minute zone that took over two hours NOT to finish and two repair bots.

Deblin, Bonoman, Vegaxe, Foresaken and myself teamed up to do the Daily Double. Which was located in one of the Void zones. We soon realized that the Daily Double was one of the first steps in the Signature Quest line, so we started that and we worked on that through chapter five.

Bonoman, left for the day, While the four of us were looking for another group, Genjii, one of our healers suggested that we start the "Mysterious Mark" heritage quest line. The HQ starts in The Ruins of Guk, in the Halls of the Fallen instance he and Deblin already had open and cleared.

Our group adding Genjii and Sequel grabbed the starter, and followed the quest line all the way through to the end. With no walk through on EQ2I we had fun figuring out the quest line, which and we fought some really interesting and tough mobs, which made it fun.

The last step was entertaining for me as takes you through the halls of the Unseen (a copied version of Free Thinkers Hideout one of my favorite raid zones in EoF) located under the Butcherblock docks, it is full of assassins and other shady villains who want to kill you.

We got about 5 platinum and 70% aaxp, a bunch guild status, a few suffix titles; "the Voice" (final), a barrel that is a port device to Butcherblock Mountains and the Heritage reward of Dark Mail Gloves. The whole quest seemed short, but from start to finish it was almost four hours, but it was fun figuring out and spending time with friends. Sequel got the server discovery for the mage gloves, which he was very excited about.

Over all I found the quest entertaining and it did not seem like a grind like most Heritage Quests and Signature quests seem to me.

After we were done with the HQ, I realized that I had 12 Void shards and I decided to look at the Void shard merchant to see if there was anything cool. I found that the Templar/Inquisitor shoulders were pretty interesting with a 5% base healing bonus, it's pretty weak on stats, compared to my Inquisitor set shoulders from last tier, but that healing bonus is cool. The enhanced void shard shoulders have 8% and it will cost 30 more shards to get, It will probably take me a couple weeks to get 30 more shards.

I eventually will get the fabled ones have that 10% base heal bonus, but when the patterns for inquisitors have not dropped yet.

Into the void..

So we've been raiding pretty steadily in The Shadow Odyssey expansion for EverQuest 2. The last four nights have been pretty exiting so far, we've taken down a few names so far in Tomb of the Mad Crusader, Ykesha's Inner Stronghold and tonight we hit The Palace of the Ancient one. The Palace is located on the outer fringes of the Void, and a wonderfully designed zone (I will get more pictures next time).

While in the Palace I picked up a nice little earing, and a server discovery. It's a nice piece, and it needs to be repaired :)

It was all a Trixy Pt. 2

Only a few short hours before The Shadow Odyssey is Online and I can't sleep!

So the Avatar of Justice spawned on Butcherblock the night before and despite our best efforts, server lag and the competition we could not kill him the same night that he spawned. We came back the next day and killed him and I was rewarded for the second time, Trixy Cane of Trickery!

Well, I will see you all online when TSO Goes Live, I am going to try to sleep! :)

Avatar of War and The Tangrin!

We took down Avatar of War with an understaffed raid Yesterday afternoon, it was a long kill!

The Tangrin popped early in the morning. I just arrived home from last call at Skip's Tavern. My favorite bar in town, where the Tiffany the head Bar tender has a Pint of Yuengling ready for me every time I walk in to the bar.

Anyway, with a quite a few of us tipsy, we took the Great Ape down and had a nice 2 master, 2 item chest with everyone getting a split of over 2 plat.

So we're still #1.

Anashti Sul, the former Prime Healer

She is one mad deity!

She has come from the void and brought some friends with her. This deity has some wonderful graphics, this screen shot doesn't do her justice.

Avatar of Flame, toasted!

Avatar of Flame popped this morning, we killed him with less than three groups and boxed characters. The loot went to an alt as it is the 4th time we have looted it.

I will be putting up my screen shots of the former Prime healer, Anashti Sul a little bit later after I get it cropped.

TSO: The Avatar of Health - Rodcet Nife

Avatar of Health - Rodcet NifeThe Avatar of Health does not have 4 feet!

This is the Avatar of Health, the Avatar of Deity Rodcet Nife, The Prime Healer. Yes, he looks like an "Area 51 Alien" that you see in horror and sci-fi movies. He is smaller than all the other Avatars. He isn't an attackable deity, but he does have some combat buffs. I wonder when his enemy, (the Avatar of) Bertoxxoulous spawns on Norrath if the Avatar of Health becomes acttackable.

EQ2I gives this description of Rodcet Nife:

"Rodcet Nife is allied with Karana, Quellious, Erollisi Marr, and Prexus, and his only enemy is Bertoxxulous. Followers of the Prime Healer take a solemn oath to fight disease and death until one or the other finally claims them. They are very generous and humble, asking little more than that the recipients of their aid pass the kindness on to another. They are not content to deal with the effects of disease and death after they occur and vigorously seek to destroy the sources of these evils. Healers and mystics are typical followers but many noble rangers and paladins also have also taken the Nife Oath. They believe that, through faith in the Prime Healer, the wounded heart of the universe shall one day be mended and death's dark shadow will never be seen again."

Tomorrow I will have a screen shot of Norrath's other new Avatar, Anashti Sul.

Anashti Sul, the original Prime Healer, was sentenced to non-existence by the other gods when she unwittingly released undeath upon the inhabitants of early Norrath. Rodcet Nife would be later appointed to take her place. - EQ2I.com

104:1 Contested streak comes to an end!

Our contested streak came to an end today, Immortalis took down Avatar of Mischief on Butcherblock. Congrats Guys and Gals, I don't know what you looted, but I hope it was a good piece, 'cause we've been getting the ass end of the stick most of this expansion. We have regarded Immo our only challenge on the server for a while now and they have finally positioned themselves as a threat.

We took down The Tangrin earlier this week and that made #104 straight for contested kills!
That is one hell of a streak for Dracos Argent members past and present! Does any other guild, other than Confirmed or Strike have a streak that long? I would seriously like to know.

Avatar of Growth - Fertilized! Happy Birthday EQ2

We took down the Avatar of Growth yesterday afternoon. Yet another disappointing and duplicated loot drop, that went for minimum bid. My last count, there are 13 Avatar items have not been discovered on our server, and they are the best items on the Avatar loot table.

Eight days left before the Shadow Odyssey! Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?

I seriously hope they have enhanced the delivery system for downloading the content this expansion. I do not want to wait until after midnight to log in to the new content on TSO like I have had on the last three expansions due to the patch times. I really hope they have been on the ball and started pushing content behind the sceenes with the new Station Launcher that is in Beta.

Happy Birthday EQ2.
As long as there are no contested up I will be hanging out in EQ2's Birthday 4th year Event on Butcherblock tonight. Hopefully they spawn some god-like creature that we have to raid and kill... That would be sweet...

102 Contested Avatars and The Tangrin Down

Still owning the server!
It's been a few days since I posted, We killed Avatar of Hate, Avatar of Valor, Avatar of Disease and The Tangrin.

That's 102 contested kills in a row...

FLURRY IS BACK!
The dev's caved in and gave Templars and Inquisitors our Flurry ability back in the TSO Beta, something I am excited about!

A change to the Inquisitor AA Spec

No more flurry attack... Double Attack instead? WTF!

RAID BUFFED, I have 115% double attack and that's not sacrificing to find Double attack gear...

Trick or Treat, Immortalis!

So at about 10pm on Halloween night, The Tangrin popped and we dispatched him pretty much immediately. After killing him we decided to borrowed a page from The Tribunal vs. Strike era and left our campers there, to pretend to watch for it to spawn. While I went out to the Bars and REALLY enjoyed my weekend, members of Immortalis spent almost 2 days there waiting for The Tangrin to spawn. It is a little evil, but in the spirit of the holiday, I found it entertaining.

Avatar of Valor Spawned a little earlier in the day on Friday, I don't have the details of the fight other than we killed him. I was at work when he spawned.

This makes the 99th Rise of Kunark contested in a row, between Avatars and The Tangrin the longest streak in all tiers of contested mobs ever killed on our server.

I would like to welcome a long time real life friend to DA, Honcho! I have known Honcho since he was a young kid playing in Magic: The Gathering at the local gaming store I manage. :) See, we've considered having him join our club house for a while, but really didn't have space for him in our raids. He's been in both AM and Immo so we know he's a decent player and since Melladee left us for the loosing team, a spot opened up, so we brought in Honcho from the loosing team to the winning team!

Correction! I miscounted!

I miscounted our total Avatar kills; we are actually at 77 Avatars and 20 Tangrin kills!

The Shadow Odyssey NDA Lifted!

Happy Halloween folks!

TSO's NDA has been lifted. Here is our AA Tree!

This is the basic AA Tree that everyone gets, you need 10 points to continue to the next line, I put 5 in both focused mind and hearty constitution for additional HP and power.

Next is the generic healer AA Tree, for this one I put 5 in Protective Prayer and Prayer of healing.

This is the cleric shared AA Tree. I maxed each of the following; Allied Prayers, Devoted Allegiance, Blessed Yelp and Overwhelming Arms and in to Sacrifice, probably one of the best AAs in the whole tree!

For the final tree I maxed Fanatical Devotion (which hits for around the 200 range when it procs and always seems to be up!). Atonement of Sins and Both the "Healing Stance" Redemption of faith and persecution.

So far I am not greatly impressed by the Tree, Sacrifice and Fanatical Devotion and the stances are by far the best of the trees offerings. I guess we will see when the game goes live how things end up.

Avatar of War & The Tangrin

It was a busy off night as both Avatar of War and The Tangrin popped with in a couple hours of each other, killed them both on first pull. Avatar of War dropped nothing spectacular an item that we've seen a half dozen times already, while The Tangrin dropped another Empowered Talon of Milyex.

Avatar of Mischief & Avatar of Fear

Avatars have become a lot more exciting! Immortallis has shown a presence at the last three Avatars. If not for a few mistakes at the end of the fight we would have lost AoM to them!

It's still a fun fight, but the loot wasn't that great, infact it was the same exact loot as the Avatar of Storms kill, Censer and a master. I think this could be the 3rd AoM kill with the same exact loot as the previous Avatar kill, I think somthing could be wrong with AoM's loot table, I have bugged it, although this late in the expansion I doubt anything will be done to fix him since the tables are going to be stripped next expansion anyway.

Avatar of Fear's 3rd and most likly final showing on our server was fun, because it was a totally new encounter from the Avatar of Fear in June, the old one was a constant fear power drain fight which was challenging, but kind of sucked because I was litterally jammed in a corner casting group buffs to trigger power items and the heal off "convert ally", it was a fight just like the original Byzola where it seemed casting group buffs was the only way to heal and feed power to my group.

The "new" fight included some actual running around outside of being chain feared and kicked like nerf footballs. I enjoyed being able to run in and melee an Avatar encounter even if it was just for a few seconds to apply my CA-Debuffs.

Avatar of Storms, Avatar of Tranquility

Avatar of Tranquility was up Saturday morning, we killed him with a tad over 3 groups. Melladee grabbed Wristplates of the Dark lord. A pretty impressive piece.

Avatar of Storms Died today giving Satarah a server disco on Censer of Celestial Alignment. While I am not a huge fan of the item, I am considering bidding on the next one that drops and adding it to my heal set gear mainly for the Heal crit chance. 4% which would put me at 90% self buffed chance, but at the moment there are far better items out there to spend my dkp on.

This makes 71 Avatars killed in row by DA! I guess there is a chance to see up to 12 more spawns on the server before The Shadow Odyssey is released.

It was all a Trixy (Cane of Trickery)!

So Avatar of War was up yesterday, we killed him #69 (woo) Avatar in a row. The Trixy Cane of Trickery dropped, which has the coolest game graphic (and some pretty cool abilities), other than the Inquisitor Mythical. I really like the item, in fact I bid on the item and won the item but after some officer discussion it was deemed more useful to another class and I was asked to rescind my bid. I wasn't happy about it at first I almost said no. But after promise of sexual favors, souls and the naming of a first born child I decided it was better for the raid as a whole. Maybe next time!

The Race of the (Protectors) Realm.

Raiding T8 is getting so f'in boring, to spice up raiding PR (which now drops masters from 71+ on Smart loot.) we decided to split the raid up to run two groups in each instance, we both finished under 20 minutes.

The raid that I was in lost the race, but not by much. I blame Crazzel for not getting the shard fast enough, plus Sequel went link dead which stalled us up a bit. We got 5 smart loot masters - Deblin got Dispatched, which the raid collectivly cheered. Two Vyx Crest lockets (which went for min dkp and one to alt) last week I paid max dkp because up until last week, a I think total of three dropped for us since the begining of the expansion. We all walked away with over 12 pp each and I think we fully equipped two mage alts!

Trakanon's a joke.

At one time Trak was one of my favorite instanced encounters, now he's a complete joke. Even becoming the hour glass I parsed 1.9k dps on him, I am sure I would have broken 2.2k if I didn't become the hourglass.

I am almost a master!

I am almost fully mastered out, I lack Smite Corruption a level 71 spell, if anyone has it I'll pay up to 40pp for it.

The Festival of the Dead... Next week!

One of my favorite times of year in Norrath is the Halloween event: The Festival of the Dead, not because of the fun events, but because of my memories of a few years back during the first Festival of the Dead.

I wanted to know how foolish people were, to see if people would buy the Halloween decorations off the Broker instead of the vendor. After the patch I purchased a handful of each of the decorations spending about 10 gold, I put them up on the broker for about 10g each. As I watched them sell, and sell I would rush back to the vendor to grab more, refill the stock and placing them on the broker. I made a good 20 platinum before people caught on to the fact that they could spend 24 silver to buy them.

Avatar of Flames Down.

So we killed Avatar of Flames this morning, with a less than optimal raid force, which makes Avatar kills really challenging and fun, Still getting lots of duplicate loot, 68 Avatar kills and still 10+ items on the loot table not discovered is kinda irritating, I hope they fix the loot in TSO so it is a little more evenly spread out.

I am going to go through and tag all of my blog posts today. I am not a wiz with blogs but one of my friends said that tagging my posts will allow better placement in some search engines, while I don't really care how many visitors I get, it would be cool to see if I get in to search engines.

Avatar kills are a blur these days! LU49 & Guild Halls

We've killed a few Avatars since my last post, the ones that I remember are Mischief and Justice (which I wish I could forget). Mischief died Tuesday and another pair of purple pants dropped. Shitty.

On Justice, last night we actually had Immortalis trading pulls with us, which was exciting and bad at the same time! Exciting, while I am not a big fan of a few of loud mouth jerks in thier guild, I am not going to deny that they have some good players.

A mixture of server lag, having 3 guilds in the area, random stupidity and lack of the right classes made it look like it was the first time we pulled him. While it wasn't near our record 72 minute long drunken fight (or our 17 minute on the ball no death fight) it was still 40 minutes of irritation just to see the Pauldrons of Good and Evil, for the fourth time, there are still 15+ items from the avatar loot table that we have not been disco'd on our server. We get HORRID luck when it comes to the good drops.

LU49 had a lot of changes and added guild halls which is kinda neat. I dumped 20million personal status in the guild hall and the leaders set everyone up as trusties to goof around with things for a week before they assign decorators to the hall... Some of the Amenities, Gaurds and Brokers have ended up in the oddest places, some with odd names and our Ratongas and Scouts are having way too much fun in the guild hall setting traps and hiding, and renaming important amenities.

The other major change in LU49 I love is casting buffs on the run, nothing annoys me more than havin to stand still just to buff players, especially the scouts.

A little bit late but better than never... Ethereal Mist Gauntlets!!

I finally got them!
Ethereal Mist Gauntlets

We killed three Avatars killed since my last post... Storms, War and Below... Nothing that great dropped from them. :(

Avatar of Flame Down, New toy & Post #50!

Avatar of Flame went down this morning, #60th Avatar killed! Immortalis showed up with some new folks on their roster some long time members of Aftermath. After a couple of failed pulls on their part, we killed the AoF and I got myself a new toy.

Avatar of Justice, Avatar of Disease & where is my Beta Key?

Avatar of Justice was up the other night when we got there The Lost was fighting him, while they didn't get to the 7th hammer, it was nice to finally see another guild forming up for an avatar...
Leadership decided we didn't have the right classes online at the time and there was still a good chance that AoJ would still be up when the right classes came online.

We re-formed and they were still fighting him, we watched them for a few pulls while our raid leaders were refreshing folks on the fight, which is an endurance fight, the second time we killed him, it took 72 minutes (of course it was 11pm on a Saturday night and half of the raid was drunk).

After a few pull The Lost stepped down from the fight and wished us good luck on the fight, which IMHO was really gracious. After a few funky pulls we killed the entire fight in 15 minutes, which makes me really happy.

Avatar of disease was up last night we killed him, it was fun fight, especially when they grouped me with 3 softies, so my heal parse was pretty damn high, I was #1 according to my parse.

RUFFEOO IS BACK! Yay!

SOE, where is my beta key? Most of DA is over on beta, well most of DA's DPS, but not one of our healers!

Trakanon, Some Avatars and other stuff.

So, we 3 grouped Trakonon last night, no deaths, another mage belt dropped! Trakanon was by far one of my favorite fights, but he has become trivial as we've progressed. Trivial meaning, that with some common instanced drop gear and I can hit over 2k dps and I am sure I can hit over 3k with a few minor upgrades. It's too bad I have to wait 4 days between every test to see how I can improve. Last night I was solo-healing and curing my group so I had to sacrifice some of my dps, to group heal the softies. :)

Then we went off to Shard of Hate and I picked up a Ring of Rage to test out in my spell and melee dps set. The 10% bonus only effects one of my melee abilities and it doesn't bring it up 10% since in my melee DPS set +CA is near cap (~400). So Ring of Rage will be put in my Spell DPS set, simply to for the +4 crit and reduction of cast speed. GDI another week with out "Water Sprinklers". Gaige is right, I die a little bit inside each time the Gloves don't drop. We didn't finish the zone, mainly because we need somthing to do on our next raid day, as we'll still be locked out of everything.

War and Storms were up this week and both died shortly after they popped. War died just over the five minute mark and dropped another pair of Fur-lined Slippers of Al'Kabor which Pigul picked up, he's a tank chanter! Ultimmaa got a nice shiny pair of boots, the Lord Planeswalkers Boots.

Grats Gaige, Just Sayin'. I'm a slacker & Holy Avatar Kills Batman!

I am a slacker - I have not been updating in a while; We're still raiding and owning Butcherblock. Although one of the other raid guilds on the server finally took down Trakanon - The Lost, Grats.

Speaking of Trakanon; he finally gave up his mage belt, which Gerrod looted and the server disco. What is kind of funny, we've killed Traknon every time it's open and this was the first time we got the belt! The Lost on their second kill of Trak, a day after Gerrod get his, they loot the belt as well!

Avatar of Valor was up on the server this week for less than Ten minutes before we killed him he dropped some nice boots for Atarax, he also scored The Tenth Stone of Zen, dropped from Avatar of Hate a few days earlier, loot whore!

I got myself a nice helm off The Tangrin the other day. Yay! The Tangrin's loot table is a joke, there are 5 pieces total, pretty soon the guild will be equipping alts with his loot.

Grats Gaige! on getting Midnight Mantle of Secrets off Avatar of Mischief.

Just Sayin' - Gaige

It's been a few days - Avatar of Flame.. Avatar of Justice!

Saturday night we killed Avatar of Justice The longest fight EVER! After 70+ minutes of LDs, zone lag from everyone doing the new Everfrost quests we finally got him. We had an almost wipe at 13% on the 7th Hammer, which we recoverd from, but it added additional time to the fight. One of our tanks died, his corpse would bounce around or even disappear under the content to the point were ressurection spells were impossible, he had to revive and make the long run back while taking the ZONE WIDE AoEs!

Sunday, we did a partial Shard of Hate run with alts, and a full run with our mains, and continued a VP run that we started earlier in the week that was stalled.

We took Avatar of Flame down Monday afternoon and Cylock grabbed a server disco on The Pauldrons of Good & Evil:
A special thanks goes out to you know who, maybe next time... ;)

Tuesday, we killed Trakanon, we have still yet to see that Mage belt! We then cleared T1 &T2 to gear up some alts and get some plats.

Tonight barring an Avatar spawn we will clear CoD and Veshan's Peak, we still may clear VP, since most avatars are ez-mode except for Justice, who is easy, but take a long ass time...

GU48 = The Good, The Bad and the Really Ugly.

Game Update 48 was patched on the live servers yesterday, here is my mini-review of it.

It was a relatively short patch only taking about 4 minutes to install, the first thing I inspected was the build #, which was 5075T, which meant that some one forgot to patch the live FIXED version to the servers.

Broken Items and Veshan's Peak: Sigh, I did not fall for this one, since I don't generally have the public channels on, since Butcherblock is full of retards, although guildies were trying to crash me, I resisted and only clicked on Guild broadcasted links. I am so glad we did not run VP last night, it doesn't unlock till friday night. (boo.) Word of broken wingbeats and mobs, zone crashes spread across the Inquisitor world wide channel and from a RL friend that is AM.

Veksar: The very first thing I did after logging on was hit Veksar with a group of guild mates, we cleared it after figuring out how the doors work, we cleared it pretty fast, and was disappointed that the zone was so easy and short, I know that it's only a preview of what to come
but we were hoping for a little challenge.

Everfrost: I always liked Everfrost to solo in it, pretty large zone, could xp forever with out seeing another player, I got my first fabled piece off the contested shark back in T5. They revamped it and made it a little better, if there was housing avalible you would have almost everything you need for a starting zone!

I wanted the healer boach for all my healers, I have 3 - Two Inquisitors (I created a second inquisitor at the begining of the ROK expansion because I wasn't sure I wanted to betray from a templar - This one will betray to a templar as soon as I get to 65) and a Fury (for transportation).

The Quest line for the broach is fairly easy, the only real difficulty is ALL the rewards were pretty decent for all classes, so when I was running the quest line, there was 99+ other players doing the same thing, which made finding "Big Horn Sheep" hard to find, I spent two hours on that part and almost gave up for the night until 3 popped right in front of me and I completed the quest.

Storms & Tangrin Down

Had a fun "off night" We killed both Storms and Tangrin and strangely, Storms dropped the same exact chest that war did just a couple days back. Not that it's a bad thing, but this isn't the first time it has happened, we had 3 avatar kills in a row that dropped the same items in the past.

Avatar of War - Dead

Not much has happened over the past week or so, we've continued to clear every raid instance in a matter of a couple days and have had a few days off. We killed War last night and Ultimmaa got a cool new toy, server disco!

We've started to go back to past expansions on these new off nights to farm (drunkenly) old contested and farm TnT nightly. It's fun, but it's too fast. I can not wait for The Shadow Odyssey.

Avatar of Valor Down & Off night

Avatar of Valor fell to us with only 3 groups today. We did have a challenge though, Immortalis and a few pickups were pulling before we showed up, it's good to see an other guild at least making an attempt at the Avatars, they keeps us on our toes and make contested fun.

Most of RoK content was still locked out so we took an off night and I helped Dom get an epic update for one of his many toons.

Avatar of Disease & VP cleared.

Avatar of Disease died to us again yesterday!

...Yay...

I can't wait for The Shadow Odyssey - at this point instance raiding is starting to get boring, sure there is still a bunch of stuff I want out of ROK, like the damn water sprinkler gloves (plate healers know what I am talking about!) The ward helmet that comes off the same mob and the shoulders off Venril, that would pretty much complete my heal set, to be ready for TSO. I still need to get my Melee set up, It's good now, but I want to start breaking 3k more consistently in VP.

Avatar of Tranquility, Tangrin and Trakanon Dead.

The uncontested avatar farming continues, after a few folks going link dead due to the crazy charm, we got AoT on our second pull. Ratcapone got a nice server disco on these very nice boots.

Then we headed off to Tangrin to kill him on our first pull in record time Ezzmar picked up a shiny new Empowered Talon of Milyex!

We made our way to Trak, I had to leave the raid early to some really odd family emergency, but they killed him.

Really weird real life issue Part 1:
So, my parents are divorced, my father owes a bit of back payment Child support to my little brother and I as a result of the divorce. My father is permanently disabled, he has Parkinson's disease and has no real income, other than Social Security. My Mother who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis took some pity on him and decided it really wasn't worth perusing him for the back child support, but he still has to make a small payment every once in a while to keep the courts off his ass. So my mother received a letter informing her that the case was closed due to his death. My Mom was a little freaked out came over to my house to see if I have seen or talked to my Dad, or knew that he was dead!

She didn't know where he lived so I left with her to go to his house to see if everything was okay. We got to his house and knocked on the door, my father opened the door, shocked to see us. My mother showed him the letter, he was pretty surprised to know that he was dead and confused on how the mistake was made. The only thing I could figure out if someone at the hospital made a mistake and listed him dead, after he suffered a stroke a few months back, when he was hospitalized for a few weeks to recover. It's an odd situation, and he doesn't know how it happened. I will keep writing on it to let you know the outcome of a real life rez as I get the details...

Avatar of Growth and Shard of Hate Clear...

Last night Avatar of Growth was killed and it dropped loot that went to our new recruit Gaige, (Yes the Gaige vs Disso of eq2flames fame) grats dude. We cleared the zone in less than two hours, killing Byzola in less than five minutes.

Friday, August 15, 2008

Avatar of Fear & Trak down!

We took down Avatar of Fear last night, it was a fun fight and we had an audience of both Aftermath and Immortailis, the later, who did attempt to pull Fear a few times, but it looks like they didn't know the encounter well enough.

After a a couple bad pulls, we won! On one of our bad pulls the Avatar and several of our raid members fell through the world, we figure that the Avatar targeted a player that was falling through the world and followed him, causing "bad shit" to happen. Other pulls were just mistakes, because we haven't pulled the mob in quite a long time.

And then Trakanon fell again...

VP opens tonight and if an Avatar spawns, we'll kill that...

Tangrin down t1-3 cleared

We killed tangrin tonight and cleared t1-3 there isn't anything left to kill...

Confirmed Cheaters? 13 Avatars killed in 1 day.

That's right, the rumor on flames is that Confirmed, probably the best guild in the game exploited a bug in Avatar of Tranquility today to have it spawn 13 times in a two hour period of time. For those that don't know, Avatars spawn once every one to three days per server. It seems so far the punishment has been removal of the loot from the Avatar kills, but further punishment has yet to be seen.

Here is the Epic Thread.

Avatar of Justice & Shard of Hate

Yet another Avatar falls to DA! Avatar of Justice, my favorite Avatar fight, he's the most challenging of the Avatar fights because of the length of time it takes to kill him, plus I can have a really high heal parse! The item was given to an Alt... It's kinda depressing, we've killed over 40 avatars in a row and have only seen 1/3rd of the loot table, we've got lots of items we've seen x4 of.

Shard of Hate cleared, nothing exiting dropped another week with out my gloves..

Avatar of Hate, Veshan's Peak and Trakanon

What a quick night, we started an hour early and ended an hour and a half earlier than normal. We killed Avatar of Hate with ease, Atarax walked away with Cyclone Harbinger of Tempest, Damn Yous!

Then off to Trakanonanon for a first pull and a new record time of 5m:58s. Then cleared Veshan's Peak very very quickly, it was under 3 hours. I got my Ring of Forgiveness, finally, at max bid!
We've only seen a few of these, which is pretty pathetic compared to the times we've cleared VP.

So I guess, if Shard of Hate is open, I think we kill that tonight, unless an avatar spawns.

Avatar of Mischief - Dead.

Immortalis showed up and had a whole day to pull and figure out the mob, they couldn't kill it. It is not the easiest of Avatars so I applaud their attempt.

Our raid force is usually the weakest on Fridays, so it took a little while to actually kill the mob, I got home from work about 9:30pm and we killed it on the pull that I joined in.

The Inquisitor mythical is really amazing on that mob.

What is really funny about when the mob died the chest popped in the branches of the tree, just out of reach of a normal players grasp. Using a mixture of growth, jump and float items and "Super Mario Brothers" jumping skill our Ezzmar was able to snag the chest to open it.

A GM responded to a petition sent by one of my guild mates regarding the chest and was amused and impressed that we were able to open the chest.

Byzola & Tangrin Down

So last night we killed Byzola and Tangrin. Byzola is a chump and gave up her last two discos.

Grats Atarax

Grats Foresaken

The Tangrin kill was my first time using my mythical on the big monkey, It works great. Oddly, my heal parse was much lower than I expected, and I think that was because I quickly used my Mythical to cure the trauma, so there was not a whole lot to heal.

Avatar of Flame & Trak down.

Immortalis finally made an appearance at an Avatar, they got it down to 60% then it fell apart for them, it was a good try though. We pulled him, he died, but dropped junk that has been shipped to alts. Off to Trak and got a new record for time in for us, 6:34.

Avatar of Valor & Byzola Disco!

While I was writing my last blog post I guess Avatar of Valor popped, and died to DA. I didn't expect one so soon...

Grats Vega on The Trixy Cane

We killed Byzola later that night and Craz got the disco on a really cool belt.

Avatar of Storms down!

We killed yet another Avatar on an off day, with out even a full raid force on. It's kind of sad that no other guilds are even trying.

Avatar of War - at peace. GU #47, PR, Thugga & Trakanon down.

GU #47 was pretty exciting for me, mainly for my Mythical fix, I am pretty happy about.
The cure clicky is pretty impressive, it makes me feel useful in the raid now and makes group setups more flexible. Aftershock was changed and it now credits the inquisitor as well as triggers 1.5 seconds faster than it did before so its useful. I am not int spec'd so the extra 15% cast and reuse on the heals that was added to Aftershock was noticeable.

They just need to change the text, because it still reflects the old mythical. Other than the cosmetic changes needed to the weapon I give it a 9/10, if they boosted the damage & damage rating just slightly or made penitent smite hit a bit harder it would be a 10/10, Although my damage was slightly better than normal on VP Trash (by trash I mean Travino, Silverwing, Phara Dar ect).

Also Supple Dogwood Staff got a fix (after a month of me reporting it - four times.) They changed the proc to Cold Swelter, which I think overall will make the weapon better than Bonecrusher in Veshan's Peak Trash even though the Top end damage for Bonecrusher is 2k for me and the Staff is almost 1.6k (but it's a faster weapon). I am going to test them, raid buffed BC is capped out at 2.0 delay and the staff should be capped out at 1.4 delay so I could get more hits in with the Staff which would be better for my 90% double attack, More CA's in with BC, but lower hit rate due to it being level 79 .

All of my weapons are situational.

Bonecrusher for T1-3 Trash.

Supple Dogwood Staff for VP Trash although I am going to try it out in Shard of Hate tonight.

Penitents Absolution and Star of Malice for Harder Trash/Named I can melee on, but I need to heal on as well.

I picked up a couple Adornments for my Trakanon's Gaze and Star of Malice, since that they changed the adornments for all damage types and since a couple of our CAs are melee/divine it added an extra 100 damage per swing and they crit.

Avatar of War was up, I used only the cure clicky to to cure my group just to test it out and it did about 90hps. Nothing spectacular dropped, in fact it was the same item as we got from Disease yesterday. We cleared PR & Thugga while we waited on Trakanon to open, I used my clicky to cure Trak's nox effect which worked well.

Disease Down - Rise of Kunark raid content cleared.

Avatar of Disease down - Rise of Kunark cleared
Game over man. Game over.

Grats Dracos Argent!

GU #47 - Not today.

I was expecting to log in this morning to see a the GU #47 installed. I was disappointed. Hopefully tomorrow.

GU #47 Delayed.

The funny thing is, is we are going to complete all ROK content tonight, before the change goes in.

Shadow Lurker Set - Void Tempest Quest Line

We had the night off of our normal raiding schedule, so I decided to do the Storms Quest line before tomorrows anticipated update. Check out my new look! I was always a fan of the T7 - Relic Set, for a Templar it was gold. I like the Silver better!

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

GU #47 - "Sometime this week"

Associate Producer Kristie posted today that the GU #47 update would be sometime this week.

Most likely Wednesday.

I can't wait.

SoH, PR, Venril & CoD raid zones cleared.

Very fast runs tonight, clearing 4 raid zones in less than 3 hours. Nothing amazing dropped. We're taking tomorrow off unless an avatar (hopefully Disease!) spawns, At the moment we will only have 3 zones open Thugga, Kor-Sha and Pawbuster for Wednesday.

GM Sighting - GM Rilwar

GM Rilwar fixed a bugged Quest "The Amulet of Mayong Mistmore" for both Giliath and Myself. This is an odd pose, he's actually bowing to me after fixing the quest for me.

Thanks again GM Rilwar!

Avatar of Below - Sent Below! Trakanon Down & Tangrin Down!

Avatar of Below killed after only a few pulls, only disease left!

Grats Ultimmaa!

We then headed to Trakanon and killed him and then killed The Tangrin first pull.

Grats Bonoman on the pants and Foresaken with the wrist discos!

Old School Raidin'

This morning at 1 am we saw that contested Mayong Mistmore was up. We 2 grouped him and got some junk! Boo.

DA vs. The Tangrin - Video by Vegaxe

Last weeks kill against The Tangrin. Music may not be safe for work.

Avatar of Flame extinguished!

It was an off night from raiding last night until we noticed the easiest Avatar was up during prime time hours we all got together and killed it quickly.

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Avatar of Growth, Trakanon and Shard of Hate down tonight.

Growth Down Again on our first pull, Grats Gooom on the Disco!

Then off to Trakanon's lair where Atarax our Monk disco'd the Tunic of Intuitive Grace.

We cleared Shard of Hate where Onra disco'd the Crimson Helm of Horror.

Crazzel won Zuul, which I really wanted. That bastard!
cat
more cat pictures

And the Verdict is... Server first - Avatar of Justice, judged by Dracos Argent!

Grats DA on taking down the longest and the most enjoyable fight in the game! The fight was over 25 minutes long! We spent a couple hours working on strat and pull spots and we got him!
I was surprised to see that I had #2 on my heal parse (fuck all your parses, mine says #2!).

AND THE LOOT SUCKED!
Yeah, we got the SAME EXACT chest that we did on the Bristlebane fight! Master & Fabled item. It was quite disappointing, the piece of shit item went to Vegaxe's alt.

Justice is dead and that leaves Below and Disease left for ROK content left for us to kill!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Light Raid Schedule tonight.

Unless there will be an Avatar up tonight during raid time we're going to go kill Trakanon, then clear Shard of Hate and then we'll have T1-3 open tomorrow, the only thing I really want from T1-3 would be a Vye Crest Locket. (but it's decent plat) It would put me up to 75% heal crit self buffed, in my heal set. Hopefully if an Avatar is up, it's one of the ones we have yet to kill.

To everyone who bought their mythicals last night.

Slops to everyone who purchased their mythical updates last night, it will probably be the first and last time you'll ever see VP. Grats to the Lost for the easy bank! What were you charging 500pp?

Big CONGRATS to the Lineage folks who busted ass, learned the mobs and finally downing Nexona and Druushk, EARNING your Mythicals! I know from fighting those mobs how frustrating it can be. During the couple weeks or so we worked on them and finally killed them I think I broke a headset, two mice and a keyboard. I blame Ruffeeo! (no, not really!) VP is almost easy mode from here on out!

Monday, July 21, 2008

Tangrin again!

Grats Deblin on the Dagger and Grats Ultimmaa on the helm!

Are you ready to die again?

EQ2 EGG

This is a neat desktop app for players that like checking out other players gear set ups.
EQ2 EGG Really easy to install, it polls data from eq2players.com. It's really neat to see how your gear stacks up to other players in the game. Here is a thread for Inquisitors on EQ2Flames.

Avatar of Mischief Down - Server 1st.

We dropped him on our 3rd pull tonight. Cure, Cure, Cure fight. We got shit gear that went to an Gerrod's alt, Frodogorn. We only need Justice, Below and Disease to spawn so we can kill them to complete the (Flop) Rise of Kunark.

Cleared VP in around 3.5 hours - I picked up Dreamslayer Slacks for Balthor.

Balthor Level 80 - Finally.

It only took about 30 minutes to get Balthor my monk alt from 79 - 81% to 80. Now I need to buy all of my Adept 3 CAs for 71+. Yeah I was kinda lazy running in all last tiers Fabled and some of this tiers mastercrafted stuff and other than my Master 2 choice the only T8 master I had was Dragonfire... So I guess it's time to hunt down a crafter to make the CAs and start running some instances for better gear.

GU #47 Update notes

I know these are on the official boards already, but I do not feel like wading through posts to check on updates so I am pretty much posting them here for myself:

TRADESKILLS
The city tradeskill societies are dealing with a bulk order for some new formal clothing, and require some assistance. Tradeskillers of the 60th rank or higher who have previously assisted their societies may speak to the Grandmaster for more details.
Tradeskillers who are skilled enough to see the tradeskill collection quests may find more rewards available in their travels.
Armorers now have a recipe for imbued devout ebon greaves.
The fuel requirement for imbued rosewood shields has been corrected.
The fuel requirement for ashen hearths has been corrected.
Imbued fulginate devout greaves can now be created.
Sparkling Cranberry Wine has been converted to Cranberry Cream Liqueur to avoid confusion with the existing Cranberry Sparkling Wine.

ZONES
Bloodline Chronicles
Adventurers may now zone into any of the Tombs of Night and the Crypt of T’Haen zones that a member of the group has access too. Previously, these zones were only accessible if everyone in the group were on the same stage of the quest.
Players can now zone into any of the Tombs of Night zones if anyone in their group is on the appropriate quest.

Sebilis/Chardok
New mid-zone respawn locations have been added to Chardok and Sebilis.

SPELLS
Faction merchants in Maj'dul courts are now selling a number of tier 5 Adept III recipe scrolls they were previously missing.
A stacking issue with stealth and group invisibility has been fixed to allow attacking from stealth.

Shaman/Druid
Spirit of the Wolf will now apply to the entire group within a 50m radius instead of being single target

Shaman
Shaman’s wolves should now have slightly more health to help their survivability.

Berserker
The Blood Rage line will not expire until the berserker dies instead of having a 15 minute duration.

Fighter
Master’s Rage will now do a melee attack and debuff the target’s defensive skills. It will also give an error if it is not useable on the target like the other archetype’s mastery skills. The recast was also lowered to 30 seconds.

Assassin
Fatal Followup should no longer be useable after Sinister Strike.

Scout
Sinister Strike should no longer debuff the target if it misses.

Assassin
The Hidden Assault line of skills should no longer apply the Damage over Time portion of the attack if the primary melee attack misses.

Brigand
Safehouse now has a short cast time and can be interrupted.
Melee attacks which had secondary effects will no longer apply on a miss.
The Dispatch and Rake lines will now hit slightly more often.

Enchanter
Sever Hate can no longer be used to pull through a crowded area.

PVP
Assassin
Fatal Followup should now work properly in PvP based combat.

Swashbuckler
Reach will now suspend while in PvP combat.

Zones from previous expansion geared towards level 60 to 70 players no longer have an unlimited level range.

Friday, July 18, 2008

Offnight Ugh.

It feels odd having an off night. I guess I will be leveling my alt up to 80, only 19% away, so it shouldn't take too long. Check that, I ran some quests with Gerrod, with his templar to finish up the polliwog protector quest, but I was a step behind him so I didn't get my update tonight.

Pentient's Absolution - On Test

Yeah this is pimp. I read on the flames that it has been put on test.

I am really exited about this change!

Faster Heals.

The extra group cure/heal is fucking amazing!

This is the weapon we needed! I don't think I will ever un-equip this now.

From The official forums:
Penitent’s Absolution (Inquisitor)
- Improved the healing power of aftershock. Should be like 75% of the heal. Also added casting and reuse bonus of 15%.
- The mythical’s intervene effect has been replaced by a powerful group cure which will cure arcane, elemental, noxious and trauma effects. In addition, when it cures an effect it will also heal the player for each effect it removes.

War down again.

The Avatar of War was up during our normal raid time tonight, so we took it down with ease on our first pull. He dropped the Purple Pants yet again, this is the 4th pair we've seen so far. It's kind of irritating.

We headed to the penis monster (The Leviathan) to flag some alts for VP. One of Deblin's alts and Gerrod's alts walked away with some junk and I flagged my alt Balthor for VP to take advantage of the always muted brawler loot.

We then headed to Trakanon's lair and Dominated (Tunic of Natures Grace) and Sequel (Robe of Shimmering Hues) walked away with both server discoveries! Ultimmaa got his Mark of the Dragonslayer, which makes #3 in the guild!

We ended the night early, with two hours left of raid time. Some of the officers were pushing for a 100% lock out of all ROK instances, but they decided to leave Kor-Sha and the Spider queen the only two raid zones open for us, to do tomorrow so some light raiding before or after the suspected avatar spawn.

Sunday night VP opens back up and we'll plow through that in a few hours and Trakanon should be open later that night so we'll kill him.

Mythical Headshots!

List of Tanks I have killed with my Mythical!
Cylock *
Atarax *
Ultimmaa (VP Trash, he was going to die anyway, so I figured I would help him out)

Onra is a sly one, I haven't seen a notice that he's died from pain and suffering from intercepting damage, I will get him though.

* At the same time on an Avatar Encounter!

Gear & Master Wish Lists

Masters needed
(Bolded masters are important, class set and/or mythical bonuses, and a higher priority.)

71 - Smite Corruption
72 - Blasphemy
72 - Invocate
72 - Arch Recovery
73 - Inquest
74 - Fervent Faith
74 - Litany
79 - Greater Disorientation
79 - Heretic's Fall

Wish List! Heal Gear - T8

\aITEM -579339747 -1116950329:[Ethereal Mist Gauntlets]\/a

Thank you Deblin for giving me the Totem of Anaphylaxin (or what ever it's called) collection quest.

I'll post a non-healing gear wish list later!

Inquisitor Mythical upgrade eta 2 more weeks.

I can't wait for this to go in! It's now got a cure click on it instead of a kill Tank proc on it!

To all of you folks saying our mythical is over powered - I say, fuck off! :-) .
Let us have an equip-able mythical! I am sure enough of you will wine to the point where it gets nerfed, but please our mythical was the worse than any other mythical out there, before you go all bitch winy on how uber it is, please let us play with it first. Trust me, after killing a lot of high end content with out using it, adding a cure will not break the item, it will only make some raids easier than they already are.

Server 1st kill shots, more bragging.

Mobs that I hit with Verdict, that killed them.

The Tangrin. 7-15-08

Wu the Enlightened (Avatar of Tranquility).
Avatar of Storms.
Avatar of War.
Trakanon.

So, I decided to make a blog!

Dominance!

My guild Dracos Argent has complete contested domination on our server! I am not counting previous tiers or the "casual contested" mobs. We have taken down almost every avatar that has been up since May, we've missed a couple due to holidays and not being able to spend enough time on them due to depop or they have yet to spawn. We've server first killed all but two Avatars, we also have server first killed The Tangrin (
wow, who clicked the easy button?) and cleared SoH first. Right now we're basicly waiting for the last 4 avatars to spawn on our server and then we've cleared ROK. Justice, Mischief, Disease and Below remain. Hopefully I can have some of our videos posted soon!
